El Salvador 2005 - present

Bloom Hospital gave a warm welcome to Heart Care International volunteers when they arrived for the first time in 2005.  Bloom Hospital, the only free standing chlidren's hospital in El Salvador, has a very long and proud medical history of treating the needs of its country's children for over 100 years.  A strong relationship with local cardiologists, the head of the hospital, American Embassador and other US and local political advisors has enabled the relationship between HCI and Bloom Hospital's three cardiac surgeons (Dr. Guillermo Martinez, Dr. Franacisco Gamero and Dr. Toti Martinez) to blossom over the past 5 years.  HCI continues to communicate monthly to help support the program in between our two annual trips.
